PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Maca is an edible and medicinal tuber plant found in the Andes region of Peru. It is also known as Peruvian ginseng, ayak willku, and ayak chichira.

The roots are sun-dried and ground into powder. To remove the extra starch in the maca root and make it easier to digest, the dried vegetable is boiled and then pressurized prior to grounding, in order to remove the starch and indigestible fibers. This is the process referred to as Gelatinization.
